I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on my Dell dell Vostro 3559 laptop and it returns the following output for the lspci -nn | grep -E 'VGA|Display' command,

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520] [8086:1916] (rev 07)

01:00.0 Display controller [0380]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Meso XT [Radeon R5 M315] [1002:6907] (rev 87)

enter image description here

and below the details of my laptop when I check PC information via Settings -> Details,

enter image description here

and these what it shows in the Settings -> Devices -> Display even after I connect the secondary screen to the laptop.

enter image description here

I have tried a few solutions online but still could not fix the issue with no luck further I have VGA port in my laptop. Would be nice if I get a hand to fix this issue.

And please let me know if further information needed for this.

  • Can you explain clearly what is not detected, and by what.

  • When I connect the second monitor via VGA port it says no signals which I am guessing my OS not detecting the monitor. secondary monitor works fine by the way

  • Actually, that is far more likely to be a notification from your monitor that it is not receiving a signal from the VGA port than anything else. Are your sure that the cable is good and the display port is activated?
