Recently I installed Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 on my laptop because Windows was corrupting my files. I was able to install the proper NVIDIA graphics driver for my card and set the primary GPU to my graphics card.
However on games that should run on my computer, such as Team Fortress 2, DotA 2, and War Thunder, there are significant frame drops. I have a system monitor to display my CPU, RAM, Disk, and GPU use, and while running these games, the CPU and RAM increase, but the GPU stays at a steady approximate 155MB.
Here are my system specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3210M 2.50GHz (quad core)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce Gt 630M with 1GB dedicated VRAM
  RAM: 8GB DDR3
  HDD: 1TB Seagate (mechanical)
    PC:   Acer Aspire V3-571G-6407
16.04 nvidia gnome graphics
