DNS issues after installing Samba4 Active Directory

I installed Samba Active Directory Domain Controller on Ubuntu Server 18.04 running on VirtualBox. I used the procedure from this link
When I got to Step 16 and queried the AD Controller, the Kerberos and ldap queries failed. Example error:
Host _Kerberos._udp.owenstec.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
