so I installed Ubuntu in a minimal install, it is going well until I installed the X server. instead of spawning in tty7 which is where it normally is... it spawn at tty2.
this may not seams like a big deal but ... sometimes I need those login shell and x is now blocking one...
the option in grub does nothing .... tty7 is blank (meaning I cannot type in it)
I use the slim login manager and i3 ... I remember doing that setup in the past but I cannot remember how to change X's tty...
as far as I remember to fix it I need to dive in slim config files but someting is way off in ubuntu 17.10 and I cannot find the propper file....
17.10 tty ubuntu-minimal i3-wm slim

it starts automatically, I installed i3 before installing xinit ... so xinint picked it up and it starts on the first available tty

I remember I had issues too with practically any login display manager so I have ended up removing them all, now I just start i3 by typingstartx
as I proposed above.
