I'm running 16.04 as a VM in VirtualBox 5.2.10 with 16.04 as host (the VM being my 'test' machine).
I don't seem to be able to access any USB drive or memory stick from the VM (although it does 'see' the wireless mouse). Is this normal with a VM?

Did you add guest additions to the Virtualbox app in the host?

You need to make sure that your user account in Ubuntu 16.04 is part of thevboxusers
group in order to see USB devices. Pointing devices don't count.

@GeorgeUdosen and @Terrance So at Terminal I enteredsudo usermod -a -G vboxusers 'username'
, logged out then back in and typedgroups 'username'
and vboxusers was listed - but still can't see them in VM.
