When I copy files from USB storage to my hard disk, the speed is less than 400 kB/sec. I change my OS from ubuntu 16.04 to windows 10, the speed is about 35 MB/sec.

  • What file system is it on the Seagate 2T portable hard disk? And what file system is there in the target partition (to where you want to copy the files)? I think you will get higher speed in Ubuntu, when you use linux file systems (compared to for example NTFS, which is a proprietary file system owned by Microsoft).

  • What file system is it on the Seagate 2T portable hard disk? And what file system is there in the target partition (to where you want to copy the files)? I think you will get higher speed in Ubuntu, when you use linux file systems (compared to for example NTFS, which is a proprietary file system owned by Microsoft).

When I copy files from USB storage to my hard disk, the speed is less than 400 kB/sec. I change my OS from ubuntu 16.04 to windows 10, the speed is about 35 MB/sec.

I think you will get higher speed in Ubuntu, when you use linux file systems (compared to for example NTFS, which is a proprietary file system owned by Microsoft).

What makes Checkinstall packages not suitable for distribution?

And as a solution to not compile packages individually on each server, I want to use checkinstall to generate .deb and then distribute it via private repository. However, in the linked guide it says that it is not designed to produce packages suitable for distribution My questions are: What is different about this packaging, that makes it not suitable for distribution? Or what should be in the package, to make it suitable? Could there be any issues with using checkinstall and distributing packages to ~20 servers? Any advice or links where I can find out more appreciated.
